Choose a resource by the decision it will help you make

A large collection of worksheets can create activity without clarifying the learning need. Start by deciding what you want to find out.

A practical example

Use a diagnostic task to locate an uncertain skill, a checklist to organise observations or a planner to schedule an agreed next step. Keep the original response and note whether it was completed independently, with notes or with help. Those conditions affect how the result should be interpreted.

Stop and review before downloading another pack. The resources here are learning aids, not official grade predictions, admission tests or specialist assessments. When a question exposes a gap, a clear explanation and a new attempt may be more useful than immediately increasing the quantity of practice.

Use one resource twice with a different purpose

On the first use, identify the learning need and record the support required. After teaching or practice, return to a comparable new task that checks the same idea rather than simply repeating memorised answers.

Keep the two purposes separate: finding the gap and checking the explanation. A planner organises work, a checklist prompts observations and a diagnostic task samples skills; none automatically produces an official grade. Choose the resource that supports the decision you need to make before downloading additional material.

Each resource includes more than a worksheet: it explains how to use the results, what to prioritise next and when a gap needs teaching rather than more independent practice.
