Where is the mock test held?
At our Smethwick base (B66), easily reached from across Birmingham, Bearwood, Oldbury, West Bromwich and Harborne. Weekend morning sessions only.
What year group is it suitable for?
Year 4, 5 or 6. Year 5 gives the most actionable result — enough time left to change the preparation plan before the real exam in September/October of Year 6.
What feedback do we receive?
A section-by-section score breakdown, comparison against the grammar school benchmark, and written teacher notes on the weakest areas and what to work on next.

Plan the review before booking the next mock
A second mock is most useful when something has changed since the first. Otherwise it may simply measure the same unresolved difficulty again.
A practical example
From the first attempt, choose one error pattern and one exam habit to address. Teach the missing idea, practise a few relevant questions and agree what evidence would show improvement. Only then decide whether another full sitting is the right next check.
Keep the review separate from an admission prediction. Check the intended cohort, paper format and available sitting dates with the provider. A mock should support a learning decision, not create pressure to buy an endless sequence of tests without time to act on the feedback.
Make the mock review produce three different actions
Sort a small sample of answers into “explain again”, “practise independently” and “check later”. Include a correct answer that was guessed, since the mark alone does not show secure understanding.
Choose one action from each group rather than immediately booking or sitting another full paper. The categories should guide teaching, not label the child. Revisit with new questions and record the support used so a remembered correction is not mistaken for independent progress on the underlying skill.
