Which year groups benefit most from summer tuition
- Year 5: the summer before Year 6 is the best window to begin 11+ preparation — tests sit in September or October of Year 6, leaving almost no time if preparation starts after the holiday
- Year 6 to Year 7: SATs are done, but the reading level and maths fluency that secondary school expects from September need consolidating
- Year 10 to Year 11: students who revisit their weakest GCSE topics in summer arrive in Year 11 ahead, rather than scrambling to catch up alongside new content
- Year 12 to Year 13: A-Level students who review Year 12 content before Year 13 begins retain it significantly better in the final exams
What summer sessions at Teaching Success look like
Summer sessions work differently from term-time tuition. With no school content competing for attention, sessions can go back and secure the foundational topics that term-time pressure never allowed time to fix properly. Most families book one or two sessions per week across the six weeks — enough to make meaningful progress without dominating the holiday. Kevin and Serena advise on the right frequency and subject focus based on the student's year group and September demands.
Subjects available for summer tuition
- Primary: KS2 Maths and English, SATs follow-up, Year 6 to Year 7 transition, 11+ verbal and non-verbal reasoning
- KS3: Maths and English for Years 7, 8 and 9 — consolidating before the next year begins
- GCSE: Maths, English Language, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry and Physics for Year 10 and 11
- A-Level: Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics for Year 12 and 13
In-person or online during summer
Both formats are available throughout the summer. Online sessions remove travel and allow flexible morning or afternoon scheduling around family holidays. In-person sessions at the Smethwick base suit families in the local area who prefer face-to-face teaching. Kevin and Serena run both in the same structured format — the only difference is the delivery method.
